December 17, 2006: Winners of the TRIFECTA Reading Challenge attended the Packer's game.

Students from the Milwaukee Public Schools have learned that reading brings sweet rewards.

Thanks to Green Bay Packers lineman Mark Tauscher's TRIFECTA Reading Challenge, sponsored by Associated Bank, more than 37,000 students went way beyond their normal reading routine during October. They were charged with reading 500 minutes in addition to their regular classroom reading.

Those who succeeded were eligible for district-wide incentive drawings. Four students received top honors – tickets for themselves and two guests to the December 17 Packers game!

These lucky students and their guests had the opportunity to meet with Tauscher and other players prior to the game. They also enjoyed gifts provided by TRIFECTA and the Packers organization before watching Wisconsin’s favorite team defeat the Detroit Lions.

The Packers ticket-winners are two third-graders, a sixth-grader and a fourth-grader. One of the third-graders, 9-year-old Aneisha White, is an avid reader. She was asked to identify her favorite book, but couldn’t, saying: "I have too many favorites."

The top winners were White, from Carleton School; Joseph Turczyn, Trowbridge School; Jalaya Little, Wisconsin Avenue School; and Andriyah Carter, Wisconsin Conservatory of Lifelong Learning.

Other students who participated in the challenge won autographed footballs, football banks or other prizes. All participants received a certificate of achievement for their participation.
